Consulting firm Accenture promotes AI transformation and will first lay off employees who cannot be retrained
Julie Sweet, CEO of the consulting firm Accenture (ACN.US), stated during a conference call on Thursday that the company will lay off employees who cannot be retrained in the field of artificial intelligence as part of its restructuring strategy to prioritize AI development.
She mentioned that as advanced AI becomes central to all of the company's work, there will be a large-scale requirement for employees to be retrained and re-equipped. She emphasized that the main strategy is to invest in enhancing employees with the ability to be reshaped, but for those who cannot be successfully retrained, the company will encourage them to leave in a short period of time.
She revealed that Accenture has already provided foundational training in generative AI to 550,000 employees and has launched a six-month business optimization plan worth $865 million, covering severance and related costs of workforce reduction
