Goldman Sachs strategist: The proportion of U.S. corporate earnings exceeding expectations ranks among the highest in history
Goldman Sachs strategists pointed out that the proportion of U.S. companies exceeding expectations in their third-quarter earnings reports is among the highest on record. The team led by David Kostin noted, "In our 25 years of data, such a high frequency of earnings surprises has only occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic restart period of 2020-2021." Among the S&P 500 constituents that have reported earnings, 64% of companies had earnings per share that exceeded market expectations by at least one standard deviation. (Bloomberg)
