Bravo $Tesla(TSLA.US) for cutting the price of the Model Y by 11% to $40k, compared to $45k earlier today. Model 3 goes to $37k from $39k.
This means the 16% delivery growth the Street is looking in CY26 is more likely. Previously I had expected 10% growth. Most were expected a slimmed down Model Y. What we got was basically the same Model Y, with limited color and wheel options. Competitors in this segment range from the Nissan Leaf, starting around 30k, to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E, both around 35k.For Hyundai, Ford, and Nissan, the challenge isn’t price, it’s software. As Full Self-Driving and onboard compute capacity become as central to the EV experience as range, Tesla’s software advantage continues to widen.Source: Gene Munster
