
GlobalWafers, the world’s 3rd biggest maker of silicon wafers used in chip manufacturing, opened a 12-inch silicon wafer plant in Novara, Italy on Wednesday, media report. The €450 million (US$525M) investment won €103 million in EU funding. GlobalWafers Chair Doris Hsu said the plant was built close to customers and will help drive development of Europe’s semiconductor ecosystem. #GlobalWafers #Italy #semiconductors
