Today, taking advantage of Google and Meta's earnings reports, I want to share my own thoughts. I used to be a value investor, until one day I was attracted by the images of big gains in the comments section. Later, I realized it was earnings gambling. From then on, I also started dabbling in gambling on earnings and doomsday bets. Without exception, all were failures. I also lost a lot of money. Bad luck was one factor, but not knowing when to cut losses was another. I also ignored the essence of value investing—I was really led astray by some people in the comments section. Posting gains recklessly is really unfriendly to newcomers. You might have already made a lot of money by betting on earnings, but there are still many new investors out there.

On the other hand, I feel that institutions and market makers nowadays are completely treating retail investors like 🐒. It's basically a double kill—longs and shorts both lose. Occasionally getting it right only makes the gambling addiction worse, to the point of no return. As a loser in earnings gambling, I really want to advise ordinary investors: never, ever gamble on earnings.

Tomorrow, there's 🍎's earnings report—let's wait and see.

Every earnings season, there are people gambling. I used to like gambling too—earnings $Meta Platforms(META.US)$Tesla(TSLA.US)$Apple(AAPL.US)$NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$Amazon(AMZN.US)$Alphabet(GOOGL.US)
