On September 8, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced that the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company signed a memorandum of understanding with BP PLC-Spons to drill five new gas wells in the Mediterranean. According to Reuters, the signing of this document comes as the Egyptian government strives to increase oil and gas production. The report states that the project is expected to start next year, with the planned gas well depths ranging from 300 meters to 1,500 meters. Additionally, according to the monthly magazine "Today Egypt," the project aims to utilize the existing infrastructure in the western Nile Delta region to accelerate the extraction and production of Egypt's gas reserves.
